Weekend Writing Warriors for August 20

I’m continuing with a snippet from Out of the Darkness, an erotic romance book which has just come out. Last week, Marianne is recognised at a photographic exhibition and surrounded by people. She is rescued by a man who she takes to be a janitor. He suggests they go out the back way, and head for a nearby bar, where she discovers to her horror that she has dragged the photographer away from his own exhibition.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realise…”

“No problem, I was getting sick of all the glad-handing anyway. You just gave me an excuse to leave. And you are, of course, the world-famous model, Marianne Delaney. I’m not a fashion photographer, but it would be hard not to notice your face looking down at me from every billboard around at the moment.”

“But you are clearly well known too, and I feel bad that I didn’t even know your name or recognize your face. You must think I lead a very shallow existence.”
